Singapore at the F3K Aeromodelling World Championship
Vincent Tan represented Singapore at the prestigious 2025 FAI F3K World Championship for Model Gliders, held in Tarp, Germany, from 26 July to 2 August 2025. This event gathered 75 senior and 30 junior competitors from 28 nations, making it one of the most diverse and competitive gatherings in the F3K community.

Over the course of six challenging days, Vincent competed in a series of technically demanding tasks that tested both his piloting skills and meteorological judgment. The gliders used in this class require a unique discus-style launch technique and precise in-flight decision-making to maximize flight time by catching and riding thermals. These skills were essential in Tarp, where pilots had to contend with varying wind conditions and shifts in weather patterns, with average July temperatures ranging from 11°C to 21°C and winds averaging 17km/h.
The 2025 championship was notable for its high level of international participation and the introduction of a dedicated female championship title, reflecting the sport’s growing inclusivity. The Croatian team dominated the senior division, while individual titles went to pilots from Croatia, the Netherlands, and South Korea—highlighting the global reach and rising competitiveness of the F3K discipline.

Vincent’s participation at this world-class event not only elevated Singapore’s profile in the global aeromodelling arena, but also provided a platform to learn from the world’s best and foster international camaraderie. The event featured a well-organized schedule, community celebrations, and was covered through live broadcasts and extensive media, broadening its appeal to audiences worldwide.

By competing at the F3K World Championship in Germany, Vincent Tan contributed significantly to advancing the sport in Singapore, inspiring the next generation of aeromodelling enthusiasts and demonstrating the dedication and expertise required to represent one’s country at the highest level of competition.
